I don't normally post pictures like this of birds flying above my head! But rarely I get to shoot a bird in full 8K in the wild - and that too a raptor - impossible to dream even! And then it happened! This was hovering right above me, making circles wondering who we are and what we were doing! This is direct from the camera with a tad sharpening applied. The bird barely just fit into the picture and many shots had some parts like wings out of frame. The light and sky were just perfect! This is a resident bird of the country and its now quite active in our region due to the good weather. And I also think it has something to do with snakes - my personal theory. The water bodies are full and hence many snakes that frequent water edges are active trying to get the small fish and other water based reptiles that grow in numbers in this season. Grasslands are also rich that way since the snakes and reptiles like monitor lizards are now outside after their breeding season. So lots of juveniles to prey upon.
