Exercise Great Bear (1961-62) was a large-scale Cold War-era joint operational force-on-force military winter maneuver in Alaska, and was significant because it marked the first time in 13 years that Canadian troops had maneuvered in Alaska. It incorporated an interoperability concept with integrated conventional and Special Forces components in an austere environment.
