Description
English: New to Plymouth City Transport as their No. 129 (reg. STK 129T), this is a 1979 Roe bodied Leyland Atlantean AN68, seen here in the depot of Colne Estuary Preserved Buses in Essex. It appears to have seen subsequent use with North Birmingham Busways (No. 29), before passing to Tappins and being converted to an open topper for use their Guide Friday Oxford Tour, passing in turn to City Sightseeing Oxford. They appear to have been its last operator, which probably explains the red base colour it has here. The re-registration to GJZ 9575 appears to have happened between Guide Friday and City Sightseeing operation. It apparently no longer exists, at least as a complete bus - according the a November 2011 news update from CEPB, "Secondly our open top Atlantean, STK129T/GJZ9575, has also moved on, however upon moving on it's new owner discovered it was beyond economical repair, even for a preservation project, requiring heavy work on the chassis. As such this has now passed to a scrap dealer in South Essex."
