Description
Deutsch: Das 1.180 Hektar große Naturschutzgebiet "Ewiges Meer und Umgebung" beherbergt in seinem Zentralbereich das 91 Hektar große "Ewige Meer", den größten Hochmoorsee Deutschlands. Umgeben wird das Meer von einem ausgedehnten Komplex ungenutzter Moorflächen, die noch das eigentliche Hochmoorprofil zeigen. Zugehörig ist auch ein Abtorfungsbereich sowie ein landwirtschaftlich genutzter Hochmoorrand. In dem Naturschutzgebiet leben zahlreiche seltene Pflanzenarten und viele interessante Vögel. Das NSG ist Bestandteil des FFH-Gebietes 006 "Ewiges Meer, Großes Moor bei Aurich" und des EU-Vogelschutzgebiets V 05 "Ewiges Meer" (Quelle: NLWKN)
