Title |
Ewer spout |
||
Description |
English: Medieval copper alloy ewer spout, dating to the 15th century length 65mm, width 10.5mm, weight 35.65g. It was cast separately from the rest of the vessel and soldered on via a long sloping seam. The spout quickly tapers to become tubular with a moulded dogs head decoration on the spout terminal. The dog has upright rectangular slightly fluted ears, its snout and eyes are represented by a concave depression with a circular spout protruding from its open mouth. This is a simple example of a well-known 15th century type; it would originally have been attached to a pedestal-base ewer. |
