Title
Ewer lid pull
Description
English: A copper-alloy lid pull from a 15th-16th century ewer, measuring 33mm in length. The terminal loop, which would have been attached to the handle of the ewer is circular in shape and measures 11mm in external diameter and 5mm in internal diameter, the top of the loop, opposite the terminal, is worn. The terminal is flat and begins with a height of 10mm. It has acorn like projections at its top edge projecting at right angles from it. Each one measuring 9mm in length and 8mm in width, they are oval in cross-section. After the acorn like projections the lid pull tapers to terminate at a height of 3mm, there is a step immediately after the acorn shaped projections and then a slope to the tip of the terminal with a transverse groove in its centre. This object is very similar to a lid pull from Srata Florida (National Museum of Wales) (Lewis 1987 4, fig 7).
