Description

La Tour de l'Horloge.

La Tour de l'Horloge fait partie de l'hôpital médiéval.

L'hospice médiéval est le plus ancien bâtiment de la ville.

La maison appartenait à une dame Pernette Grenat, bourgeoise d'Evian, qui a fait don, par testament en 1355, de sa maison et de moyens financiers pour aider les pauvres et les nécessiteux.

Le comte Amédée VI donnera en 1360 une rente annuelle de 7 sols 6 deniers. Le Pape Clément VII accordera de nouvelle indulgences à la chapelle en 1378.

Modifié au 17ème siècle, le bâtiment a conservé une partie de sa beauté originelle. La Tour de l'Horloge a reçu un toit à pignon au milieu des années 1800. La façade a été restaurée en 1863 par Viollet le Duc.

Le bâtiment a ensuite été transformé en Hôtel de Ville en 1860.

Aujourd'hui, c'est la maison de la police municipale.

The Clock Tower is part of the medieval hospital.

The medieval hospice is the oldest building in the city.

The house belonged to a lady Pernette Grenat, bourgeoise of Evian, who donated by will in 1355, his house and funds to help the poor and needy.

Count Amadeus VI in 1360 give an annuity of seven sols, 6 deniers. Pope Clement VII to grant indulgences to the new chapel in 1378.

Modified in the 17th century, the building has retained some of its original beauty. The Clock Tower received a gable roof in the mid-1800s. The facade was restored in 1863 by Viollet le Duc.

The building was then converted into City Hall in 1860.

Today it is the home of the municipal police.
