Le griffon de la source Cachat (ancienne fontaine sainte Catherine). Le baron de la Rochette avait une jolie fille, Béatrix. Béatrix était courtisée par deux seigneurs (d’Allonges et de Coudrée). Mais elle préférait Arnold, écuyer de son père, jeune homme pauvre et courageux. Le baron, souffrait d’un mal mystérieux. Il annonça qu’il donnerait sa fille à celui qui le guérirait. Arnold alla consulter l’ermite du grand châtaignier de Neuvecelle. Celui-ci lui conseilla de faire boire chaque jour au baron l’eau de la fontaine Sainte-Catherine à Evian. Le baron guérit très vite et donna la main de sa fille au jeune écuyer.
