EVERYTHING FOIR THE QA3RDEH « Flower
A Collection of
Grandiflora and Unvvin Sweet Peas
The overshadowing size and beauty of the Giant Waved Spencer
Sweet Peas has gradually reduced the demand for most varieties of
"the Grandiflora and Unwin types so that we now offer only a list of
"these limited to the popular cheap sorts for sowing in quantity for
■cut flowers, though they are also very effective for garden decoration
.and may be grown with less care than the Spencers need to produce
their best results. A packet of Grandiflora Sweet Peas is sufficient
for 10 to IS feet of single row; an ounce for 30 to 40 feet, and a pound
for 500 to 600 feel of row.

Early and Winter Flowering Sweet Peas
This distinctive class of Sweet Peas is valued for earliness of bloom when grown
out of doors and for their winter flowering qualities when grown in greenhouses.
They begin blooming according to the variety — in from 8 to 12 weeks from seed
sowing. Under garden culture the plants are dwarf, branching, bushy and bloom
extravagantly though the blossoms are not as large nor the stems as long as those of
other types of outdoor Sweet Peas. Their whole character seems to change, how-
ever, when grown under glass, especially if trained to a single stalk, then they
eventually grow very tall. The first flowers appear low down and others develop
along the plant as it grows often to a height of 10 to 12 feet. Thus a succession of
flowers is produced all winter long and these flowers are very large and have long
stems. .See cut.)

Public domain

This work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 70 years or fewer.

This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1929.

This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag.

Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag.
