| Description | This station is no longer the Hauptbahnhof. At this time, one had to do a long detour round Berlin anti-clockwise to reach Potsdam. Now it is a quick dash through West Berlin. This Gotha car, the only one I saw, was parked as a reserve outside the station. Gotha tram 177 was one of the last Gotha G64-65 articulated trams in service in Potsdam. That article states that it was last in service in Potsdam on 3 January 1990. This photo dates from approximately 19th January, hence the lack of movement during the day. Quite why it was dumped at the railway station, I don't know. This car is now a preserved historic vehicle in the Potsdam fleet along with a Gotha motor car, no 109 and two Gotha trailers. This site gives a later date of 29 March 1990 as the last service date of Gotha cars in Potsdam. |
