Description Even the subsidiary shrines, which are probably no more than garden decorations for the temple, are so attractive! I was particularly enamoured of this beautiful shrine with a brilliant golden Buddha in it, along with a band of bodhisatavas all around him. Very nicely done! While Wat Si Saket is arguably the oldest standing shrine in Vientaine, having survived the Siamese invasion, these modern renditions of the Buddha are all very recent additions, I would presume. (Vientaine, Laos/ Lao PDR, April 2014)
