Description

Description: A picture of the relief-side of a compass of Europe, which was combined with a relief-map by prehistoric people coming out of Africa. It was found in Wegberg in the Rhineland of Germany in March 2005 on a golfcourse called "Schmitzhof". It shows North-West-Europe and the very precise boot of Italy, which the palaeolithic people used to come to North-West-Europe and to retire to Africa again the climate getting colder, for Italy was joined to Africa at that time. The scale is approximately 1:64.700.000 . One has to compare the relief-map with the status of Europe during the ice-age. The Baltic Sea for instance was covered by ice-mountains then. The Alps were larger because of the ice. These big shields of ice were modelled into the stone in their situation and altitude. A very interesting detail is the peninsula of Kola at the upper – right-hand rim of the stone. In the edition 10/2006 of the German magazine "Allgemeine Vermessungs-Nachrichten" (AVN) was published an article about the examination of the relief-side by the university Duisburg-Essen in Germany.
