Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Eurofighter Typhoon, Kemble Air Show, 2009 This aircraft represents the cutting edge of military aviation technology. The costs to the UK involved in developing and building it are unknown as the government has apparently refused to update the 2003 figure of £20bn. Since the Eurofighter project was a pan-European one (UK, Germany, Italy and Spain), the total costs are even higher. The capabilities of the aircraft are considerable. It was designed to be inherently unstable as this makes it potentially much more manoeuvrable. However, to exploit that manoeuvrability the machine is dependent on very sophisticated computer systems. Without them the plane may not even be able to get off the ground. There is a fairly comprehensive wiki article here Eurofighter_Typhoon I have posted a video clip of part of the display this plane put on later in the day on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_w5ACrb7bQ
