Key: The taxonomy is based on the IOC:
Note that BirdLife International (and thus the IUCN) lumps the Eurasian reed warbler with the African reed warbler. The distribution map is based on:
In addition within Europe the EBCC Atlas was used (for example to include Corsica and Sardinia within the range): Noble, David G.; et al. (2020). "Acrocephalus scirpaceus Common reed-warbler". In Keller, Verena (ed.). European Breeding Bird Atlas 2: Distribution, Abundance and Change. Barcelona: European Bird Census Council and Lynx Edicions. pp. 624–625. ISBN 978-84-16728-38-1 For the subspecies ammon on the Libya-Egypt border:
For the subspecies avicenniae on the Red Sea coast
The IOC taxonomy treats the reed warblers in the Iberian Peninsula and north Africa as a subspecies of the African reed warbler (Acrocephalus baeticatus ambiguus). This is based on:
Xeno-canto use the IOC taxonomy and provide a range map here: https://xeno-canto.org/species/Acrocephalus-scirpaceus The base map uses data from Natural Earth https://www.naturalearthdata.com/downloads/ (50m files). The map was draw using QGIS 3.24. The projection is EPSG:3857 WGS 84/Pseudo-Mercator. The option to output an SVG file is broken so that the output includes features outside the area of interest. The extra features were removed and the distribution added using Inkscape 1.1 running under Windows 11. |
