a.Salix sp. Willow. Called also jqyVili, bud willow (jay, willow; It Hi, grain, bud), inallusion to the characteristic silvery buds. The catkins of willow are called ihipoftl, its flowers. The whitebuds are jqylcili, willow grains. The small male flowers arejayVilioku, bud-willow fluff or down; oky, is properly loosedown of a bird, and these flowers are so called because they are easilydetached. At the 1 qntaH ceremony in December, willow twigs, apparently onefor eacli household in the village, are prepared, a number of pele(feathers with ywsgkala) being tied by cotton strings to each twig.2The twigs are called jqylcili.
