A close view of one of the carvings on the abandoned building which features Rajasthan style of building design and intricate carvings on the exterior. It was truly fascinating to note that the intricate carving is not on a single piece of stone, but on several bricks! Individual bricks are carved painstakingly and then meticulously put together to form a complete piece of carving which looks as though it was carved on a single block of stone! You can clearly see the individual bricks here, especially in the lower part of the carving. (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017) |
