Description
Français : Auguste Audollent (1864-1943), historien spécialisé dans l'archéologie romaine en Afrique du Nord, a rempli les fonctions de conservateur du Musée Bargoin, de doyen de la Faculté de Lettres de Clermont-Ferrand de 1913 à 1937, et de président de l'Académie de Clermont-Ferrand de 1913 à 1923. En 1950, ses enfants font don d'une partie de sa bibliothèque à la bibliothèque du patrimoine de Clermont-Ferrand (alors Bibliothèque Municipale et Universitaire) ; ses papiers personnels sont conservés aux Archives départementales du Puy-de-Dôme. La bibliothèque conserve également certains livres d'archéologie nord-africaine dédicacés à Audollent.
English: Auguste Audollent (1864-1943), historian specializing in roman archaeology in North Africa, was the curator of the Musée Bargoin, Dean of the Faculty of Letters of Clermont-Ferrand from 1913 to 1937, and president of the Academy of Clermont-Ferrand from 1913 to 1923. In 1950, his children donated a part of his library to the Clermont Auvergne Métropole Heritage Library (then Municipal and University Library) ; his archives are held at the Puy-de-Dôme Departmental Archives. The Clermont Auvergne Métropole Library also helds some archaeology books signed for Audollent.
