El Decreto 42/2001, de 13 de febrero del Gobierno de Aragón, autorizaba al Ayuntamiento de Ayerbe de la provincia de Huesca, para adoptar su escudo y bandera municipal.

El día 8 de septiembre de 2001 se hizo, en la plaza Ramón y cajal de Ayerbe, el acto de presentación del Escudo y Bandera Municipal.

Cuadrilongo con base circular, en campo de azul, un castillo de oro, donjonado de tres, aclarado de gules y mazonado de sable;surmontado de una flor de lis, de oro. Al timbre una corona cerrada compuesta de un aro de oro engastado de piedras preciosas, sumado de ocho florones de hojas de apio, con perlas intercaladas, y sumados de otras tantas diademas cargadas de perlas, cerradas por lo alto y sumado, en la parte que se juntan, un globo centrado y cruzado de una cruz llana
