The Glasgow Coma Scale quantifies the level of consciousness based on 3 forms of patient interaction. The score is determined by the sum of the responses and quantifies consciousness, from 3 to 15, or deep coma to alertness.

Português: Esquema para avaliar o nível de consciência utilizando a escala de Glasgow. São três critérios distintos, baseados na capacidade do paciente em interagir com o examinador: Abertura ocular ( primeira resposta), resposta verbal e resposta motora (melhor resposta). Varia de 3 a 15, sendo que 15 é o nível Alerta, orientado e respondendo a comandos e 3 o coma mais profundo onde não há nenhuma resposta do paciente a qualquer estimulo externo, inclusive ao estimulo doloroso
