Description
English:
One storey, local grade listed, corner building with shops on the ground floor. At the beginning of the 19th century, the property was owned by the grain wholesaler Israel Benzián (Benzion?) (1768-1848), born in Nagykanizsa. On an 1822 map, the floor plan of the house shape was a distorted letter "U". In 1824? It has been significantly remodelled. On a 1860 map the house is already shown current form. The initials of the rebuilder I B can be found in several places on the building. In 1848, Croatian prisoners of war were temporarily held here. Later, grain merchant Israel Löwinger (1801/1802-1889) became the owner. At the beginning of the 20th century, the wholesaler of spices and colonial goods Náthan Armuth (1857-1942), became the owner. After World War I, the Transdanubian Food and Goods Trading Limited Company established its meat factory 'Butcher Factory' in the yard. A meat processor, fat melter, fat store, incense house and finished goods warehouse formed the unit. In the 1920s there was the Harmat and Herrnstein textile- and fashion department store /business owners: Simon Harmat (Herrstein) (1889-1944) and Mihály Herrnstein (1887-?) /- In the 1930s there was also a shop of the Hungarian Civil Servants' Cooperative. The deer head on the façade was originally the decoration of the neighbouring Hotel Szarvas (Hotel Deer). - 17 Erzsébet Square (Rozgonyi Street corner), Nagykanizsa, Zala County, Hungary.

Egyemeletes sarokház földszinten boltokkal. Az ingatlan a 19. század elején a Nagykanizsán született Benzián (Benzion) Izrael (1768-1848) gabona nagykereskedő tulajdonában volt. Az 1822-es térképen a ház egészének alaprajza egy torz „U” betű alakú volta. 1824-ben? jelentősen átépítették. Az 1860-as térképen a ház már kb. a jelenlegi alaprajzzal szerepel. - Az építtető I B monogramja az épületen több helyen is megtalálható. 1848-ban horvát hadifoglyokat tartottak itt ideiglenesen. Később Löwinger Izrael (1801/1802-1889) gabonakereskedő lett a tulajdonos. A 20. század elején a ház új gazdája Armuth Náthán (1857-1942) fűszer és gyarmatáru nagykereskedő lett. Az első világháború után az udvarban alakította ki 'Hentesárúgyár' húsüzemét a Dunántúli Élelmiszer és Áruforgalmi Részvénytársaság. Húsfeldolgozó, zsírolvasztó, zsírraktár, füstölő, készáru-raktár alkotta az egységet. 1920-as években itt volt a Harmat és Herrnstein rőfős és divat 'áruház' /cégtulajdonosok: Harmat (Herrstein) Simon (1889-1944) és Herrnstein Mihály (1887-?)/- Az 1930-as években működött a Magyar Köztisztviselők Szövetkezetének boltja is. A homlokzati szarvas fej eredetileg a szomszédos Szarvas szálloda épületdísze volt. - 'Szarvasház' néven helyi védelem alatt, azonosító: -11235 - Nagykanizsa Megyei Jogú Város 28/2017.
