| Description |
English: The Ernest A. Franks House, 184 West Utica Street, Buffalo, New York, February 2020. A rare surviving example of the Flemish Colonial Revival style in Buffalo, an architectural trend that began in Brooklyn just before the turn of the century and spread across New York State thereafter, the Franks House is notable for its flared roof with step-gabled dormer, façade of rough rusticated sandstone, and the overall superb craftsmanship courtesy of architect Albert Schallmo. Ernest A. Franks (1862-1938) was the original owner, about whom no biographical information is available. The building is now vacant and under threat of demolition to make way for a townhouse development connected to the Elmwood Crossing project. |
