From Petőfi Square Park. Karácsonyi Roman Catholic Elementary School. Official name in 2022: "Gyula Roman Catholic High School, Primary School, Kindergarten and Dormitory Erkel tér No. 2 site of János Karácsony Catholic Primary School." Operated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Szeged–Csanád. Built using walls of a former Turkish bath, that was probably one of the 11 baths in Gyula mentioned by Derviş Mehmed Zillî. The ground floor wing of the building, was a bathhouse as early as 1518. During the conquest, the Turks also used it as such. After the recapture of the city, from the beginning of the 18th century it served as a house of worship - a church of the Reformed. The Rosenfeldt drawing of 1722 still depicts the bath in good condition, covered with domes, near the Mosque and Turbe of Ali Pasha. Based on this, it can be assumed that the bath is also the foundation of Ali Pasha from the second half of the 16th century. Under archeological research found some remains floors, water tube/pipeline but all buried back so now nothing can be see of these. In the 19th century remodelled to school building, Architect Mihály Nuszbeck (1818). Here studied the famous componist, pianist Ferenc (Franz) Erkel. Under revolution of 1848-1849 used as military hospital.. Current facade made in 1899, architect Konrád Scher. Karácsonyi János Általános Iskola. 2022.ben a hivatalos neve: Gyulai Római Katolikus Gimnázium, Általános Iskola, Óvoda és Kollégium Erkel tér 2. sz. Telephelye Karácsonyi János Katolikus Általános Iskola. OM azonosító szám: 028388 Az egykori török fürdő, mely falainak felhasználásával épült, feltehetően egyike az Evlija Cselebi által említett 11 gyulai fürdőnek. Az épület templomfal felé eső, középkori eredetű földszinti szárnya már 1518-ban fürdőházként szerepel, s a hódoltság alatt a törökök is ekként használták. A város visszafoglalása után a 18. század elejétől imaházként - a reformátusok templomául szolgált. Az 1722. évi Rosenfeldt-féle rajz még a jó állapotú, kupolákkal fedett fürdőt ábrázolja az Ali pasa dzsámi és türbe közelében. Ennek alapján feltételezhető, hogy a fürdő is Ali pasa alapítványa a 16. sz. második feléből. A gőzfürdő egyik helyiségének padozata a fűtőcsatornák járataival és a padozatot tartó pillérek maradványaival előkerült a kutatás során. A fürdő maradványai jelenleg nem láthatók. A reformkorban az épületet iskolává alakították (Nuszbeck Mihály, 1818), itt tanult Erkel Ferenc is. 1849-ben Damjanich hadikórházának egy részlege működött benne. Jelenlegi homlokzati kialakítása 1899-ből való (Scher Konrád), bővítése és a hozzáépített szárny az 1960-as évekből.
