Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This engine was one worked by my grandfather, William H C LaBar. He was a 40-year member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers out of Huntington, Indiana. It is not known whether he engineered this particular locomotive or was the fireman.

According to the Erie Lackawanna Historical Society, Inc. (www.erielackhs.org), Engine 2077 was a 2-8-0 Type H-21 Class steam locomotive, one of 50 manufactured by Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia in 1910 and retired between the years 1927 and 1952.

The Erie Railroad ran from New York City through Binghamton, Elmira, Youngstown, Akron, Marion (OH), Lima and Huntington (IN) to Chicago.

Wouldn't you love to hear this great engine at work pulling a train out of the station? Wikipedia says the 2-8-0 "Consolidation" engine was known for moving "impressive loads at unimpressive speeds"!
