Description

I love this one, from fall 1989. We were first learning Jade Hall of Spring (玉堂春 Yu Tangchun), which proved a big hit in Honolulu in spring 1990, and again in China in summer 1991.

I'm playing the lead on jing hu, with extraordinary musicians all around me: Kaoru Iijima on er hu, Michiko Ueno singing the famous arias, our teacher from Jiangsu Province Beijing Opera Company Shen Fuqing, and in the back, director/producer Elizabeth Wichmann is with percussionist/translator Daniel Cole (Tschudi).
