El Protonotario D. Juan Ortega de Velasco, abad de San Quirce, y Canónigo desta Santísima iglesia, cuyo cuerpo está sepultado, hizo este altar, arco y carnero; falleció á 3 de Enero de mil 557 anos. Dotó cuatro memorias cada año que le han de decir los Señores Dean y Cabildo; y los Capellanes del número le han de decir cada dia dos misas rezadas con sus responsos, en este altar; y les compró Juro para la dotación dellas; los cuales Capellanes han de pagar cada año cuatro ducados á la fábrica desta Santa Iglesia; y trescientos mrs. á los Visitadores del dicho Cabildo que visitaren estas memorias. También está sepultado en este carnero D. Juan Ortega de Velasco, su sobrino , Abad de S. Quirce, y Canónigo desta Santa Iglesia, que falleció á 25 de Setiembre de 1580 años: y Doña Elvira de Vallejo su madre, los cuales dotaron dos misas cada semana perpetuamente que han de decir los dichos Capellanes, Miércoles y Sábado, con sus responsos : los cuales dotaron de Juro, y dejaron dos mil mrs. para ornamentos deste altar, de Juro cada año; y por patrón á D. Juan de Velasco y Castañeda, hijo de Francisco de Velasco y de Doña María de Castañeda. Requiescat in pace
