Description

Epargyreus clarus (Cramer, 1775) - silver-spotted skipper butterflies in Ohio, USA.

Silver-spotted skipper butterflies are native to much of America and parts of western Canada and northern Mexico. The flower cluster is buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis occidentalis), which is native to eastern America. The butterflies are feeding on nectar.

Classification of butterflies: Animalia, Arthropoda, Hexapoda, Insecta, Lepidoptera, Hesperiidae

Classification of plant: Plantae, Angiospermophyta, Gentianales, Rubiaceae

Locality: western side of Newark, central Licking County, central Ohio, USA
