Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Entrance to Halliggye Fogou A fogou is a middle iron age underground passage/chambers, which only occur in Cornwall. They were built underneath settlements but the purpose is unknown - could be for refuge, storage or ceremonial. This one is apparently a great example, more extensive than most and is open to the public - when the horseshoe bats aren't hibernating. Well worth a visit, but you will need a torch.
