Description
English: Engainion of an ancient greek house seen through a dotted glass. Early 3rd century B.C. It was found under the floor of the ancient house "L" which preserved in ... at the base of the Acropolis Museum. "Engaintia" were sacrifices to the deities who protected houses, included during the laying of their foundations or their renovation. The sacrifice included the burning of animal meat in a small hole dug in the ground and the dedication of small-clay vases containing offerings.
Ελληνικά: Εγκαίνιο κατοικίας. Αρχές 3ου αι. π.Χ. Βρέθηκε κάτω από το δάπεδο της αρχαίας κατοικίας "Λ", στην ανασκαφή που διατηρείτο στη φάση του Μουσείου της Ακρόπολης. Τα "εγκαίνια" ήταν θυσείες προς τις θεότητες που προστάτευαν τα σπίτια και τελούνταν κατά την θεμελίωση ή την ανακαίνισή τους. Η θυσία περιελάμβανε το κάψιμο, μέσα σε μικρό λάκκο, κρέατος ζώων και πουλερικών και την κάθεση μικών, πήλινων αγγείων που περιείχαν προσφορές.
