Description
English: End of the path along the old railway cutting. Immediately north of the bridge > 1612486 which takes Wymondham Road over the dismantled railway trackbed the path which follows the cutting's course is taken up steps > 1612404 leading up from the cutting and emerges on the road, a short distance further to the south. Access onto the railway trackbed is blocked by a fence just on the other side of the bridge. This view was taken looking back the path from where it ends in north-westerly direction. The cutting forms a section of the dismantled trackbed of the cut-off railway line which ran between Forncett and Wymondham. The originally single-track line was used for main line diversion trains during the floods of 1912 and it was doubled for military purposes during WWI.
