Summary
[edit]DescriptionEnd-Product Inhibition of Threonine to Isoleucine.png |
English: End-Product Inhibition controls metabolic pathways so that the end product isn't made in excess. The end-product acts as an inhibitor by binding to an allosteric site thus slowing down the metabolic pathway when there is an excess in product, and speeding up the pathway when there is a shortage of it. In this diagram, threonine is being converted to isoleucine through a series of five reactions. The end product isoleucine binds to the allosteric site of the first enzyme, threonine deaminase. |
