Summary

Description

English: Enchey Monastery of Gangtok, India belongs to the Nyingma order of Vajrayana Buddhism and falls under the jurisdiction of the Pemayangtse Monastery. Enchey means "Solitary" and as its name implies, the monastery has a very peaceful atmosphere. The monastery was built in 1909 resembling a Chinese Pagoda, with ornately carved windows and a shining golden cupola on top. On a clear day, the Kanchendzonga range is visible from the monastery which is built on a ridge above Gangtok city. It is the exact location where Lama Druptub Karbo had his hermitage. The photograph was taken in the late afternoon of October 2021.
