The fen also belongs to the Site of Community Importance named Emsdetten Fen and Meadows at Max Clemens Canal (Emsdettener Venn und Wiesen am Max-Clemens-Kanal).
Deutsch: Blick hinein in einen Bruchwald des Naturschutzgebiets „Emsdettener Venn“ bei Emsdetten, Kreis Steinfurt, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland. Abgestorbene Bäume – während der Waldsterben-Debatte in den 1980er Jahren noch ein Anzeichen für den bevorstehenden Weltuntergang – haben heutzutage längst ein positives Image und gelten überall als Erfolgssymbole des Naturschutzes. Hier sind sie sichtbares Zeichen für eine gelungene Wiedervernässung des Venns. Ein schönes Beispiel dafür, wie sich der Symbolgehalt von Bildern rasch ändern und auch manipulieren lässt. Das Areal gehört außerdem zum FFH-Gebiet „Emsdettener Venn und Wiesen am Max-Clemens-Kanal“.
