English: Emperor of India
Paddle Steamer 'Emperor of India' (seen here unrebuilt) was built in 1906 by J.I.Thorneycroft of Southampton, and was intended to be the Princess Royal of the Southamton Company. She was 195ft long and 428 gross tons. Princess Royal was rejected by the Southamton Company and was returned to her builders. The lengthened her by 21ft 8in, increasing gross tonnage to 482, and sold her to Cosens, who renamed her Emperor of India. She was withdrawn in 1956, and scrapped the following year. |
