Left to right: Miss Emily Smith, Nurse Officer of U.S. Public Health Service, Regional Headquarters of U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare for New England, New York State, and New Jersey; Dr. Joseph A. Gallagher, Clinical Director, U.S. Public Health Service Hospital, Stapleton, Staten Island, N.Y.; Mrs. Henry Tadgell, Shutesbury, Mass., representing Hampshire County Women's Auxiliary, Massachusetts Medical Society; and Dr. Eric Stone, Chief of Professional Services, U.S. Veterans Administration Hospital, Jamaica Plain, Mass. The 200-bed emergency hospital, designed by the Federal Civil Defense Administration, can be moved immediately in a single van to any disaster area. It is the first of at least 6000 scheduled to be stockpiled at strategic locations throughout the country.
