Português: Emblema do Batalhão de Caçadores n.º 12. Calçada madeirense de calhau rolado, 1881. A Calçada Madeirense constitui uma autêntica referência histórica e patrimonial do Arquipélago da Madeira e representa bem a singularidade em termos de geodiversidade dos territórios insulares respetivos. Todavia, por vezes, a Calçada Madeirense é confundida com a Calçada Portuguesa, apesar de ambas serem muito distintas. “A Calçada Madeirense utiliza essencialmente pedra rolada, seixo e/ou calhau, e pedra navalheira, peculiaridades que a distinguem de qualquer outra Calçada”. É desta forma que os três autores da obra que se debruça sobre este património cultural. Trata-se de um livro, em português e em inglês, apresentado a 24 de março de 2022 no salão nobre do Parlamento madeirense, de autoria dos investigadores João Baptista, engenheiro geólogo, Celso Gomes, professor de Ciência Geológicas e de José Luís de Gouveia e Freitas, matemático, falecido nessa semana e cujo trabalho académico foi enaltecido na apresentação da obra ‘Calçada Madeirense: Bordados a Preto e Branco'‘. “A melhor homenagem que podemos prestar ao José Luís é precisamente que este livro tenha a maior divulgação possível, porque ele também é fruto do seu trabalho”, como enfatizou então o Presidente da Assembleia Legislativa da Madeira. |
