Español: La obra representa el momento en que el cadáver del apóstol Santiago el Mayor, que había sido decapitado en Jerusalén por orden del rey Herodes Agripa I, fue enbarcado en Jafa por sus discípulos para llevarlo a Galicia, donde según la tradición el apóstol había predicado en vida y donde acabarían finalmente sus restos, que se supone que descansan en la catedral de Santiago de Compostela. |
