| Description |
English: Elsecar Reservoir spillway Elsecar Reservoir was constructed in 1794 to provide water for the Barnsley Canal. The canal was completed in December 1798, but had a short productive life due to the development of the railways. In 1996 Barnsley Council created a local nature reserve here to help conserve the wildlife, including many birds found at this site. |
