The Whitelees Beam Engine was installed in November 1841. This was the 47th engine made by John Petrie & Company of Rochdale. It was delivered to Mr John Hurst of the Whitelees Mill, Littleborough. The engine continued steaming until mid 1942. It is now cared for since 1992 at Ellenroad Mill in Milnrow by the Ellenroad Trust. It is a classic Watt beam engine with parallel motion. It has a single 25.5 inch bore with a 5 ft stroke. It has not been compounded. It has a Porter Governor and a 18 ft flywheel. Ellenroad Trust |
