| Description |
English: Elite Chambers The blank wall down the street to the side is the one clue to the purpose for which this remarkable building was built - it was a cinema. Having then succumbed to the Bingo boom, the building now houses only offices and the ground floor retail units. The use of terracotta faience is unusual for a building date as late as 1921. Note the figures in the niches around the cornice; remarkably they have all survived. Getting sunshine on the facade to bring out its lightness is only possible during summer months when the sun comes round far enough in the evening. |
