Animal characteristics: Head-Body Length: 300-490 cm; Weight: 2-6.4 kg; Identification: The eleven-banded armadillo has a dark brown carapace with yellowish edges, yellow-gray undersides, and ten to thirteen moveable bands across its back; Habitat: Grasslands, upland plateaus, moist lowlands, riversides; Diet: Carnivore: termites, ants; Reproduction: Females give birth to only one young each breeding season; Behavior: If threatened by a predator, armadillos will burrow to escape. All species within this genus are nocturnal; Status: No special status. |
