Notes | Im Deutschland des 15. Jahrhunderts wurden nur 2 Drucke von Elephanten gestochen, beide von den Brüdern Schongauer. Ludwigs Elefant hat einen bärtigen türkischen Dompteur, mit Turban und hohen Stiefeln, der Elefant hat einen Elefantensitz. Der Elefant selbst scheint eher von Martin Schongauers Druck angeregt zu sein, als von einem echten Elefanten, während der Dompteur eine verdächtige Ähnlichkeit zu Martins Zwei Mohren (oder Türken) zeigt. |
