These concretions are of all sizes,from a hemp-seed to that of the fist; in their weight, they vary from a fewgrains to a pound or more, their average being from three drachma to an ounce. Urinary concretions are generally arranged under different heads, accordingto their color, consistence, and intimate characters. Their chemical composi-tion has attracted much attention during the last forty years, and the individualswho have particularly distinguished themselves for their researches in thisrespect are Scheele, Bergmann, Wollaston, Marcet, Fourcroy, and Prout.Much, however, as they have done, the subject is far from being exhausted ;and an interesting field is still open, which, if properly cultivated, cannot failto be of the greatest benefit.
