ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENTS U. S. SIGNAL CORPS. 217 The method of pnttiiio- up messenger just described is of generalapplication and will be found suitable for the heaviest strand in-stalled. In most cases for small systems the method may be some-what simplified and the details described should be modified accord-ingly. The messenger should never turn double corners or change fromone side of the street to the other by being pulled around the corner. On double corners messenger and cable should make the square turn,as shown in figure 1-10. On changing sides of the street the messen-ger should go straight past the last pole to a stub or anchor, beginningagain on the opposite side of the street in the same manner, bothcorner poles being side guyed. This is shown in figure 140. When the cable is in place on the messenger the sag in inchesshould not exceed the limits of the following table: Temper- 100-foot 120-foot 140-foot 160-foot 180-foot 200-foot ature. span. span. span. span. .span. .span.
