The gritty surface referred to is obtained by scientificallycombining broken stone of varying sizes mixed with bitumen,and from the very nature of its parts it is difficult to conceivehow it can be other than one of remarkable durability. Plimpton, civil engineer of the BostonElevated Railway Company, in and around Boston.
