PLATE 3. 3 This machine was equipped with an eighteen horse power motor, ser-ies wound. The current was supplied through a trolley, and one ofthe rails was utilized for a return circuit. Plate 4 is an illustration of one of the earlier locomo-tives, the nane of the manufactuer being unknown. It differs es-sentialy from the others in that the wheels are connected togetherwith connecting rods, similar to the locomotive built by theWes tinghouse Co. for the use in the Crozer Coal and Coke Cos.mine in est Virginia. Special points of interest ar^.the housing,the large frame buffers, and the trolley pole. plate 5 is an illustration of a Westinghouse Electric Co.machine, built for service in t ie Oliver Iron Mining Cos. mine.It is typical of the standard locomotive construction used in themines a few years ago.
