English: Elderly man at Addison Blockhouse Historic State Park - Ormond Beach, Florida
Addison Block House was acquired by the state as a historic park in 1945 from the Volusia Hammock State Park Association. The blockhouse was part of John Addison's plantation, Carrickfergus. He acquired the propetry through a 1400-acres Spanish land grant in 1816. He died in 1825. The plantation, including the coquina stone blockhouse, was burned during the Second Seminole War in 1836. |
