Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Charger plate purchased in 1957 during the administration of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and used at the White House in Washington, D.C., in the United States. Although the Truman china service was still in plentiful supply, First Lady Mamie Eisenhower decided to augment the service by purchasing 120 "charger" (or service) plates. Charger plates remain in front of the guest at all times during the main meal, and other plates (such as dinner plates) are place on them.
