Description

De lamp van Philips veranderde de wereld. Strijp was de plek waar menige innovatie het daglicht zag. In 1914 werd hiervoor een onderzoekslab opgezet om ‘natuur- en scheikundige verschijnselen’ te bestuderen; het fameuze NatLab. Albert Einstein was hier te gast en Koningin Wilhelmina sprak hier de eerste radiorede uit via de kortegolfzender. Veel van de monumentale gebouwen waarin werd gewerkt zijn gebouwd voor de eeuwigheid. Die krijgen nu een nieuwe woon- of werkbestemming: De Hoge Rug, het Glasgebouw, delen van het NatLab, de Machinekamer, het Ketelhuis, het Klokgebouw en het Veemgebouw. De sfeer van innovatie en creatie hoort bij Strijp-S en blijft op Strijp-S. Voelbaar en zichtbaar. Ze geeft een extra dimensie aan het nieuwe werken en wonen.
