Title
Eight Roman vessel fragments
Description
English: A small assemblage of eight fragments from at least three different greyware vessels dating to the Roman period, c. AD 100-250.

There is one rim sherd, the remainder are body sherds. The everted rim sherd visibly flares outwards from the vessel body, and most likely came from a jar form.  All the sherds are all fairly similar in the fabric used, which is uniformly mid grey in colour with a slightly soapy feel, particularly on the exterior surfaces. White quartz inclusions are visible, with the occasional irregular larger white inclusion present. Two fragments are slightly coarser with a more sandy texture, and may be representative of Farnham sandy grey wares. The remainder are all likely examples of GRB1 greyware, including the rim. The form of this everted-rim storage jar is known in greyware from the second century AD.

Measurements: combined weight 40g.
