Summary
[edit]DescriptionEhemaliges Wachthaus in Mühlheim.jpg |
English: The guard-house was built in 1861 in the style of late classicism. Located in Market Street 26 it once contained two holding cells and a recreation room for the guards.
The projecting roof is supported by sandstone columns with cushion capitals and dice-bases. This possibly those are reused Romanesque parts that were replaced during the renovation. Until World War I it served as a base for the night watchman of the township. From 1927 until the pogroms in 11/09/1938 it served as a transformer house. After that, it was also used for the imprisonment of Jewish inhabitants before their transport to the concentration camp Buchenwald. The planned demishing in 1975 could be prevented through civic engagement. It was last renovated in 2007/2008. |
